That assumes you know the base and the vertical height. But you may not.

If you know two sides and the included angle, the area is

Area = 0.5*a*b*sin(C)

Or, if you know all three sides, then let s = (a+b+c)/2

then Area = sqrt[s*(s-a)*(s-b)*(s-c)]

There are other formulae. For the formula to be of any use, it must take account of what information you do have. There is no point in having a neat formula if the information required to use it is not available!

EX: h=5cm B=10cm

5x10=50 50 divided by 2=25, so A= 25cm2

(always make sure to use 2 when it comes to area)
