well it depends what positive is being misused by the negative lets say it was, Example:-3 - +3 then that would equal 0 because when you minusing or plussing a negative with a positive the terms are backwards

It depends on the negative and positive number for example:

16-(-3)= 19, cause the 16 is bigger than the 3, so it's positive

-16-3=-19, cause the -16 is bigger than +3, so you just add on to the 16.

Also this is different from adding because adding your taking away from the positive number like 3+(-2)= 1 is different to 3-(-2)= 5 and -3-(-2)= -1

The question says " a negative minus a positive ". That means
that you begin in a negative position and then proceed in the
negative direction.

The result is always a negative ... one that is more negative than
the original one.
