Not all the time. They do have a tendency to become aggressive, though. They have incredible strength and, when felt threatened, and can really hurt someone. It all depends on the individual dog's personality and how they were treated.

∙ 14y agoNo. No dog breed is inherently "evil." Pit bulls are born just like any other puppy; curious, trusting, and happy. You have to remember that pit bulls, just like all other dogs, are the same species. People are to blame when a dog goes bad, not the breed.

∙ 14y agoOf course not! I love pit bulls. I have NEVER met a vicious pit bull. It's terrible how the media portrays pit bulls. Everyone is so scared of them because they've heard of a few attacks. They don't tell you that the pit bulls that attacked people are almost all untrained unsocialized dogs who have most likely been cruelly treated all their lives. Pit bulls are one of the most loyal dogs you can have. They will stand by you no matter what. The average percent of pit bulls that pass temperament testing is 84.1%. This is a higher percentage than Chihuahuas. It is also the 4th highest percentage of all dogs!!! Has anyone noticed, the news doesn't tell stories about the good kid who stayed in school and never even touched a gun, they show stories of the dropout who was arrested for murder. It is the exact same for pit bulls! They show the awful stories of attacks but they never show a story about the MILLIONS of pit bulls who were loyal all their lives and only jumped on people to lick their faces. Please don't discriminate against pit bulls and pass on this message to everyone!

∙ 13y agoAmerican Pit bull Terriers are not the strongest breed, Caucasian Shepherds are much stronger, and so are Kurdish kangal, and Tosa Inu. Alaskan Malamute hold most records in weight pulling competitions. I have heard reports of Kurdish Kangal with a bite force around 700 pounds but I can't find out if it is solid or not. Most people say a Rottweiler has the strongest bite, but I can tell you for fact that a rottweiler was tested with a bite force of around 330 pounds and a mastiff has a bite for of around 503.
