There are many reindeer in the north. In the traditional poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" ("The Night Before Christmas"), by Clement C. Moore, there are eight, and he gives them names. This was made up in 1823.

The amount of reindeers is 9. There names are :DasherDancerPrancerVixenCometCupidDonnerBlitzenRudolf
what kind of question is this? he has 9 reindeer because he has 9 reindeer? jeese is this a stupid enough question for you? Actually, although I may agree that it is a rather silly question, there were only 8 reindeer. The names are fromt he poem the visit of St Nick (or, T'was the night before Christmas) published in 1823. In it there are only 8 reindeer listed; Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen.
Originally, there were only eight reindeer pulling his sleigh, notably: Dasher Dancer Prancer Vixen Comet Cupid Donner Blitzen However, in recent years, a ninth reindeer was added: Rudolph
Rudolf dasher dancer prancer vixen comet Cupid Donner Blitzen And there is supposed to Be 9 including Rudolf
8 but if you want to count ruldoph then 9
Actually, they ALL are! The male reindeer lose their antlers in late November to early December & the female reindeer retain (keep) their antlers until spring. We really should have known this because the reindeer always find their way! You GO! Girls! & keep those cards, letters & presents coming! :)
9 do. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen. And Rudolph of course.
Dasher,Dancer,Prancer,Vixen,Comet,Cupid,Donner,Blitzen,and Rudolph.
There are 6 sides to a snowflake, 3 wisemen, and 9 reindeer. So, 6+3+9=18.
