The M16 is capable generally of 1 1/2 inch shot groups at 100 yards. Some of them will shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards.

So at 300 yards, you should be able to hit a 3 inch to a 4 1/2 inch size target.

Ammo, gun, and shooter are all a part of making this determination

What is the maximum range (in meters) of the M16 Rifle?

The maximum range of the M16 rifle is 3,534 meters. The maximum effective range of the M16 rifle (point target) is 550 meters, which is about 600 yards, and around 800 meters (area target), which is around 875 yards. Point target is you aiming directly at your target (accounting for windage and elevation as necessary). Area target is basically you shooting at a range beyond that where you can aim directly for your target, but there is still a chance the round will hit. Of course, the actual effective range also depends on the user's marksmanship.

Kentucky rifles were accurate at up to how many yards?

Legends have it at 100 yards. <><><> Depends on how you define "accuracy". Mine is quite accurate to about 200 yards. Beyond that the significant bullet drop is a challenge. With a well made rifle, a skilled marksman could hit a target the size of a man at 300-400 yards.

Which has a greater range m4 or m16?

The M16 assault rifle has a greater range than the M4 carbine as a result of its 20-inch barrel, compared with 14.5 for the M4. The M16 can hit an area target out to 800 meters while the M4 is effective to 600 meters.

What is point target of m-16?

Point target would be like a human being. An m16 is accurate to 550 meters, roughly, in a well trained shooters hands. Against an area target, like a truck, you should be able to hit it from 600+ meters The small .223 caliber bullet will lack much power at these ranges. It will strike with roughly the same energy as a 9mm handgun at point blank range. 100 meters = 1000 foot/lbs energy 500 meters = 300 foot/lbs energt Also the effective fragmentation range of the M16 is usually 100 yards or less, so lethality drops greatly the further out you go.

Steve hit the baseball 400 feet Lesley hit the golf ball 300 yards How many feet farther did the golf ball travel than the baseball?

300 yards is equal to 900 feet, so the answer is 500 feet.

How far can an ak-47'bullet go?

"about 300 yards" This is not true. 300 yards is the distance at which your average Joe with an average AK-47 and or AKM can effectively hit a target. Competent shooters with higher quality AK's are able to hit center mass at much further then that. However the 7.62x39 cartridge has the capability of travelling in excess of 1000 meters and retain full lethality. The issue is that Ak's are not designed to effectively engage targets at that range and so actually hitting your target at the maximum range of the cartridge is a matter of luck.

How far did he hit the golf ball on the moon?

How far can you shoot an m16 rifle without a scope?

The effective range of an M16 rifle is around 550 meters (600 yards) for point targets and around 800 meters (875 yards) for area targets when using iron sights. However, it is important to note that the accuracy and effectiveness of a shot greatly depend on various factors such as the skill of the shooter, weather conditions, and the type of ammunition used.

How accurate is a Kentucky rifle?

Depends on your definition of accurate, and at what range. I shoot a few Pennsylvania rifles, and they can group in a bit over an inch at 100 yards. At 500 yds, it would be a very different matter. They were considered accurate enough to hit a man at 300 yds under the right conditions. They are less accurate than modern target rifles that can hit an apple at 500 yards.

Why can firearms hit a precise target many yards away?

Not all firearms CAN hit a precise target many yards away. RIFLED firearms impart a spin to the bullet as it is fired. The spinning bullet tends to keep going in the direction it was pointed in at the start. Early firearms were smoothbore (unrifled) and not very accurate.
