No it cannot. Math is an exact science. As it has been said before, A number can either be written as the quotient of two integers or it cannot. You can't have it both ways.

Can 5.85 be a irrational?

A rational number cannot also be irrational. A real number is either rational, or it is irrational.

What number is both real and irrational?

All irrational numbers are Real numbers - it's part of the definition of an irrational number. Imaginary numbers are neither rational nor irrational. An example of a number that is both Real and irrational is the square root of two. Another example is the number pi.

Can an irrational numbers be a real number?

yes. an irrational number is any real number that is not a rational number

What number is both rational and irrational?

None. A rational number is a number that can be written as the quotient of two integers where the divisor is not zero. An irrational number is a real number that cannot be written as the quotient of two integers where the divisor is not zero. Any given real number either can or cannot be written as the quotient of two integers. If it can, it is rational. If it cannot, it is irrational. You can't be both at the same time. The square root of -1 is not a real number and it cannot be written as the quotient of two integers, so it is neither rational nor irrational.

How are rational and irrational numbers similar?

Is a real number always irrational?

Real numbers can be rational or irrational because they both form the number line.

Is three an irrational number rational number both rational and irrational or neither rational or irrational?

Integers are rational. In the set of real numbers, every number is either rational or irrational; a number can't be both or neither.

Are real numbers rational and irrational?

The set of real numbers is divided into rational and irrational numbers. The two subsets are disjoint and exhaustive. That is to say, there is no real number which is both rational and irrational. Also, any real number must be rational or irrational.

Can a real number that is not a rational number is a?

A real number which is not a rational number is an irrational number.

What is the similarity of rational and irrational number?

They are both Real numbers.

Is arrational number a real number?

Both rational and irrational numbers are real numbers.

Is the number 3 an integer rational irrational or a real number?

It is an integer. All integers are rational but not irrational. All rational and irrational numbers are real numbers.

Are there real number that are not rational number?

A real number dosen't have to be a rational number as a real number can be rational or irrational i.e the root of 2 is irrational and real. So is (pi).

How can you put rational and irrational in a sentences?

An irrational number is a real number that is not rational.

If a real number is a rational number can it be an irrational number?

No it cannot. Irrational means "not rational".

Can a real number that is not a rational number be an irrational number?

Yes it will be. The set of real numbers can be divided into two distinct sets: rational and irrational. So if it is not rational, then it is irrational.

Are some rational numbers are irrational numbers?

Numbers cannot be rational and irrational at the same time.
