Yes, in home wiring as long as it is protected by a 15 amp breaker. Remember this circuit will only handle 1800 watts and cannot be loaded to any more than 1440 watts. So if each light is 75 watts then the maximum you can install is 19.

Sure. As long as it is connected to a 15 amp circuit breaker. That is the normal gauge wiring for residential lighting. For commercial 12 gauge on a 20 amp breaker is normal.

Can you use a 20 amp receptacle for a 20 amp appliance?

Yes you can as long as it is feed off of a 20 amp circuit in at least #12 gauge wire.

Why the bulb is not lighting when one wire or terminal is not connected?

When one wire or terminal is not connected to a light bulb, it is not possible for electricity to complete the circuit. When a circuit is not completed, the bulb will not light. An off switch, for example, breaks the circuit.

How do you change a 3 wire cealing fan circuit to a 2 wire light circuit?

Sure; the fan has 3 wires so you can wire the light and fan separately, but if you don't have that option, you don't NEED to put the fan and the light on separate switches. You can always turn the light or fan on/off using the pull strings.

Why dining room lights go on and off intermittently?

Check for loose wiring at the light itself and also at the light switch. There can also be a loose wire anywhere in the circuit supplying power to that light switch. Start at the light itself and work backwards in the circuit until you find the loose wire.

Where is the fuse for the power antenna of 1997 acura integra?

It is on the same circuit as the interior light. 7.5 amp fuse. This is the always powered line to the antenna. There is also a power wire from your radio which makes it go up and down when the radio is turned on and off.

How does circuit breaker or fuse protect the house from fire?

The fuse is matched to the size wire in the circuit the breaker/fuse it is protecting. For instance, a 20 amp breaker/fuse is used in combination with AWG 12/2 wire. A 15 amp breaker/fuse would be used with AWG 14/2 wire. If there is too much current flow in the circuit caused by either overloading the circuit or by a short in the wires the wiring would overheat and catch fire if not for the breaker/fuse. The breaker/fuse is designed to detect this and to trip or blow and shut off all power flowing to that circuit and prevent a fire. This is why you should never install the wrong size fuse. Put a 20 amp fuse on a 15 amp circuit and it would not protect the circuit as it should.

Can you wire 15 amp plug on a 20 amp circuit?

No. Also it would be a moot point using a 20 amp receptacle because the breaker protecting the circuit will only be a 15 amp. If you use a 20 amp breaker then make sure that the wire size is #12 and that you remove the 15 amp receptacle from the circuit as it will be not rated for the new 20 amp current.

How do you turn off the interior lights with the doors off a jeep?

I bought what is called an "Add A Circuit" fuse link. This thing has two slots for 10 amp fuses and plugs into the "Door Sw Defeat" fuse slot. It also has a wire coming off it to add another line to it. What I did was pull the 10 amp fuse out, plugged in the Add A Circuit and plugged the fuse into the second opening of the new dual fuse holder. Then I installed a toggle switch under the dash near accessible only when the glove box is open. From the toggle switch, I connected a ground wire to it, grounded that to an existing metal screw, and the other wire connected to the wire coming from the dual fuse holder. Flipped the switch and the light turns off. The total cost was, $1.19 for the toggle switch and about 5 bucks for the Add A Circuit connector. Piece of cake! Good luck! Do amp meters measure power when device on circuit is turned off?

An amp meter measures current flow, not power. An amp meter measures instantaneous current either by being inserted in series with the wire being measured for current flow, or clamped onto a single current carrying wire and measuring current flow by induction. If the load is disconnected then no current will flow and the amp meter will read zero.CommentThe correct term is ammeter, not 'amp meter'.

Why would the tail lights and dash lights not work and keeps blowing fuses on 81 Toyota Supra?

You have to find a short in the circuit that is causing the fuse to blow. Examine the tail light harness and also the license plate light. The license plate light can be where the short is as it is easily damaged in the bumper area. Use a "short checker". This kit can be found at a good automotive parts store and instructions are included. Basically you substitute a heavy amp circuit breaker for the fuse. As the circuit breaker trips on and off, you follow the wire with a "Galvanometer", (a small hand held amp gauge); the needle moves back and forth as the current in the wire moves it. When you go past the area of the short, the needle stops moving as there is no more current passing through the wire as it went to ground before that.
