1 kg/cm2 = 2.542 kg/in2 = 6.4516 kg/in2 = 2.206 x 6.4516 lb/in2 = 14.223 lb/in2 Each kilogram per square centimeter equals 14.223 pounds per square inch, so, for example, 5 kg/cm2 = 5 x 14.223 lb/in2 = 71.115 lb/in2

You'll have to keep in mind that technically a pound is a unit of force and a kilogram is a unit of mass, but we'll assume you either mean a pound of mass or the force exerted on 1 kg at the Earth's surface. And also that you mean pounds per square inch and kilograms per square centimeter.

There are 453.59237 grams in a pound according to Google, or 0.45359237 kg. There are 2.54 cm in an inch, but because it is square inches/centimeters, we'll have to square that.

1 psi = 0.45359237 kg per sq in, using the first fact.

Now there are 2.54 cm in an inch, so there are 2.542 = 6.4516 cm2 in 1 sq in. You can see that there is less area in 1 square centimeter than there is in 1 inch, so you can see you need to divide the number above by 6.4516.

So, 0.45359237/6.4516 = 0.070306958.

So to convert from pounds per square inch to kilograms per square centimeter, you multiply by it by 0.070306958 (or round it off to something like 0.0703).

You can see this in Google by searching "1 psi in kilogram-force per square centimeter". Google can do heaps of conversions like this, displaying the calculation in big writing at the top of the search.

1.75 kg weighs about 3.858 pounds on earth. (It would only weigh about 22 ounces

on Mars, but that's another story.)

The more sq inches it's spread over, the fewer pounds per sq inch it presses.

For example, if you make a long square bar out of it, and the end of the bar

is 1 sq inch, and you stand the bar up on its end, then the pressure under the

bar is 3.858 pounds per sq inch.

And of you beat it into a round plate so thin that it covers a 3-ft circle, then

the pressure under the plate is about 0.00379 pound per sq inch.
