Best Answer

They will have 2 different solutions or 2 equal solutions and some times none depending on the value of the discriminant within the quadratic equation

Systems consisting of one linear and one quadratic always have two solutions in the complex field. In real numbers they may have 0, 1 or 2 solutions.

Must solutions to systems of linear equalities satisfy both equalities?

Any solution to a system of linear equations must satisfy all te equations in that system. Otherwise it is a solution to AN equation but not to the system of equations.

What is the quadratic formula used for?

The quadratic formula is used all the time to solve quadratic equations, often when the factors are fractions or decimals but sometimes as the first choice of solving method. The quadratic formula is sometimes faster than completing the square or any other factoring methods. Quadratic formula find: -x-intercept -where the parabola cross the x-axis -roots -solutions

Can a system of linear equations have two solutions?

No. The graph of each linear equation is a straight line, and two or more lines can't all intersect at more than one point. * * * * * Unless all the lines are, in fact, the same line. In that case each point on the line is a solution. That is, there are infinitely many solutions.

What are the linear systems?

A "system" of equations is a set or collection of equations that you deal with all together at once. Linear equations (ones that graph as straight lines) are simpler than non-linear equations, and the simplest linear system is one with two equations and two variables.

Is linear algebra and linear equations the same?

Linear Algebra is a branch of mathematics that enables you to solve many linear equations at the same time. For example, if you had 15 lines (linear equations) and wanted to know if there was a point where they all intersected, you would use Linear Algebra to solve that question. Linear Algebra uses matrices to solve these large systems of equations.

How are quadratic inequalities different from linear inequalities?

A linear inequality is all of one side of a plane. A quadratic inequality is either the inside of a parabola or the outside.

How many solution sets do systems of linear inequalities have. Must solutions to systems of linear inequalities satisfy both inequalities. In what case might they not?

There is only one solution set. Depending on the inequalities, the set can be empty, have a finite number of solutions, or have an infinite number of solutions. In all cases, there is only one solution set.

What are the solutions to the quadratic formula?

The quadratic formula is x=-b (+or-) square root of b2-4ac all over 2a

Do all quadratic equation have a solution?

No. Some have two solutions where as some have none.

Why are systems of linear inequality so important?

A system of linear inequalities give you a set of answers that could work. In day to day lives we actually use linear inequalities all the time. We are given questions and problems where we search for a number of possible solutions.

How you find the solution of a quadratic equation by graphing its quadratic equation?

When you graph the quadratic equation, you have three possibilities... 1. The graph touches x-axis once. Then that quadratic equation only has one solution and you find it by finding the x-intercept. 2. The graph touches x-axis twice. Then that quadratic equation has two solutions and you also find it by finding the x-intercept 3. The graph doesn't touch the x-axis at all. Then that quadratic equation has no solutions. If you really want to find the solutions, you'll have to go to imaginary solutions, where the solutions include negative square roots.

How many solution sets do systems of linear inequalities have Must solutions to systems of linear inequalities satisfy both inequalities In what case might they not?

A solution to a linear inequality in two variables is an ordered pair (x, y) that makes the inequality a true statement. The solution set is the set of all solutions to the inequality. The solution set to an inequality in two variables is typically a region in the xy-plane, which means that there are infinitely many solutions. Sometimes a solution set must satisfy two inequalities in a system of linear inequalities in two variables. If it does not satisfy both inequalities then it is not a solution.

What does the graph of a line represent?

It represents all solutions to the linear equation.

Why are linear equation and linear inequalities not solved in the same manner?

Although there are similarities, the solutions to a linear equation comprise all points on one line: a one-dimensional object. The solutions to a linear inequality comprise all points on one side [or the other] of a line: a two-dimensional object.

What does it mean for a system of linear equations to have no solutions?

It means that there is no set of values for the variables such that all the linear equations are simultaneously true.

An equation where the graph of all solutions lies on a line?

If it is a straight line, then the equation is linear.
