You said "maths". That means you're probably one of them there furriners, so God only knows what horrific travesties are allowed in whatever backwater country you're from.

In the good old US of A, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education typically requires at a bare minimum that you take a couple of semesters of Calculus, and Trigonometry is pretty much a requirement for that. I don't know if you consider those "higher maths" or not.

Many states don't technically require that teachers actually have a degree in the subject they're teaching, only an Education degree of some kind, though, so it's theoretically possible to teach math despite knowing little more than the students you're teaching.

How is the implementation of team teaching?

In the team teaching technique of teaching, a team is usually formed of the subject teacher and a teacher specializing in the particular topic being taught. For example, if 'shares' is to be taught in a maths class, the team formed is of a maths teacher (regular maths teacher of the class) and an economics teacher, since he will have a better expertise on the topic of shares than a maths teacher. Thus the maths introduces the lesson/topic and the economics teacher explains the topic of shares in detail. The maths teacher may evaluate the lesson at the end. Thus the teachers leverage on the skills/knowledge of one another.
