Use the square footage of your house, and the size of your roof should be about the same. Be carefull not to include the yard in the footage or anything that is not covered by the roof, then divide the number by the number of stories your house is.

How do you calculate roofing materials - A roof footprint?

You need to estimate the size of the roof in square feet.A bundle of shingles will cover 33 square feet, so divide the square footage of the roof by 30and that's how many bundles of shingles you'll need. The extra 10% will end up getting used as starters and the cap.Shingling a roof isn't difficult, complete directions are printed on every bundle. But if you've never shingled a roof before you might want to pick up a couple of extra bundles. You can always return them after.

My home is 1100 square feet what is the roof's square footage?

You cannot calculate the square footage of a house roof like this (unless you have a flat roof). The simplest way would be to go up on your roof and measure its different surfaces, however if you dont want to do that, you would need to know several differen things to calculate the surface area -- such as the pitch and angel -- how much hangover you have. Basically you should save yourself time and go up on your roof and measure it

Does homeowner insurance cover a leaky roof?

If the leak was the result of the age of the roof, or nomal wear and tear, no. However, if the leak resulted from a covered cause of loss (such as a large object hitting the roof and causing a hole, it probably would. However, in the latter case, the homeowner would have an obligation to guard against additional damage to minimize the damage.

How much is insurance companies paying per square for Texas roof claims?

It doesn't work like that. The insurance company will pay claims for roof repairs or replacement that are consistent with the local market and consitent with the damages incurred. If you try to overcharge for the repairs, then the homeowner will be stuck for the remainder of the bill that is not paid by the insurer. A contractor simply submits a bid to the homeowner. If the homeowner chooses you as their roof contractor then they will submit that to the insurer for approval. The company will then pay the bill so long as it is reasonable and within the expected market range for that area.
