What are 3 ways to compare and order fractions and decimals?

One way is to write equivalent fractions with like denominators. IF your ordering fractions AND decimals, write the decimal(s) as fractions. Then put them side by side and compare. for example. Lets say you have 3 fractions and one decimal. 7/8, 9/8, 1¼, and 0.75. Write 0.75 and 75/100 - that equals ¾. Then take the rest of the fractions and compare them so, 7/8, 9/8, 1¼, ¾. there are two 8s and two 4s. Since 4 can be multiplied by 2 to equal 8, 8 is your lowest common denominator. take the 1¼ and multiply the numerator and denominator by 2, that = 10/8, then take the ¾ and do the same thing and that = 6/8. Finally, take all your fractions, put them side by side, and compare them. So, 6/8, 10/8, 7/8, 9/8. Since the denominators are the same, you compare the top numbers. 6 < 7 < 9 < 10. So your answer is 0.75 < 7/8 < 9/8 < 1¼ Hope that helps :)

Is 0.8 greater than 0.95?

No, 0.8 is not greater than 0.95 as we see if we convert them to fractions thus: 0.8 = 8/10 or 80/100 0.95 = 95/100 Compare the fractions and find out which is greater.

Is 0.7 greater than 7 over 9?

7/9= 0.777... so no. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Alternatively, working with fractions: Convert to fractions with the same denominator and compare the numerators: 0.7 = 7/10 = (7×9)/(10×9) = 63/90 7/9 = (7×10)/(9×10) = 70/90 70 > 63 → 70/90 > 63/90 → 7/9 > 0.7 → No, 0.7 is less than 7/9 Instead of converting to equivalent fractions with the same denominator to compare numerators, if (and only if) the numerators are the same, the fractions can be compared by comparing the denominators and the fraction with the larger denominator is the smaller fraction: 0.7 = 7/10 7/9 same numerators, so compare denominators: 10 > 9 → 7/10 < 7/9 → 0.7 < 7/9 → No, 0.7 is less than 7/9

Turn fractions into decimals?

You divide the numerator by the denominator, and there's your decimal.

Which of the fractions is larger five sixths or seven twelfths?

5/6 or 7/12 Bring to a common denominator of '12' in this case. 10/12 & 7/12 Compare the numerators 10> 7 Hence 10/12 > 7/12 It follows 5/6 > 7/12

What is 0.1 equal to in fractions with the denominator at 100?

10/100 = 0.1 so the answer to your question would be 10.

Do you have to have a common denominator when you are adding fractions?

Having a common denominator makes it easier to add or subtract fractions. You can also convert fractions to decimals and then do the addition or subtraction but that is really the same thing as having a common denominator of 10. 100. 1000. etc. Without a common denominator, you would have to mentally make adjustments for the values of fractions. Of course, that is really establishing a common denominator in your head.

How are fractions decmals and percentages alike?

A percentage is a special way of writing fractions with a denominator of 100. For example, 33% = 0.33 or 33/100.A decimal is also a special way of writing fractions - with a denominator that is a power of 10. Which power, depends on the number of decimal digis. For example, 0.125 = 125/1000.

How do you change terminating decimals into fractions?

Is 1 over 2 greater than 5 over 10?

I suggest you convert the fractions to a common denominator; that should make it easy to compare them.

What is the fraction with the denominator under 10 for 0.91?

There is not one. 91/100 is reduced as far as it can be unless you start putting decimals into your fractions.

What fractions are equivalent to 0.50?

0.50 = 50/100 = 5/10 = 1/2 So all fractions equivalent to ½ are equivalent to 0.50; these are those fractions where the denominator is twice the numerators: examples include 1/4, 2/4, 3/6, 10/20, 50/100.

What is the lowest common denominator for these fractions 35 and 110?

10 is.

Why does a fraction have a denominator of 100?

Because most fractions are used by 100 or 10. Say the fraction is 1.3/10, the other form is 13/100. 100's are used because that is the easiest way to transfer it into a percent. E.g. 56/100=56%. 97/100=97% p.s. the number after / is the denominator P.p.s. hope i helped.

How do you know 72 80th is greater than 7 8th?

To compare 2 fractions you must make the denominator the same. We can do this in this problem by multiplying 7 and 8 by 10. This gives us 70 80ths. Now we can compare the 2 fractions and see that 72 80ths is bigger.

Which is larger 3 eighths or seven tenths?

Convert both fractions to a common denominator (for example, with a denominator of 80, which is 8 x 10), then compare. 3/8 becomes 30/80 and 7/10 becomes 56/80, and you can see easily that 7/10 is larger.
