324*4 = (3*108)*4 = 3*(108*4)

So, if you knew 108*4 you could multiply that number by 3 to get the answer to 324*4.

But is it not at all clear why you would do that! First of all you need to work out the fact that 324 is actually 108*3 and then, multiplying 324 by 4 is really just as easy or difficult as multiplying 432 by 3. So one more step for no real gain.
