  1. It was named after Charles the IX of France because he was respected so well .
  2. Its also known well for its Palmeto trees wich won the war for South Carolina by defending fort summet during the Revelutionary war . Cannons bounced right off the wall of the Palmeto trees and bounded back .
  3. South Carolina was founded in the south so they named it after Charles the IX and they put south in front of it .
