There will not be a 53 week year. The way the earth rotates and revolves means that there will only be 365 days in a year, except leap years, when there are 366. However, this still fits a 52 week cycle.

Which day of the week is there most of this year?

Since this is 2012, a leap year, there are two days of the week we have the most of. There are 53 Sundays and 53 Mondays. There are 52 of all the rest of the days this year. Any non leap year there are 53 of whatever the first day of the year is on and 52 of the rest.

Why is there 53 Thursdays and not 53 other days in the year?

A 365 day year is one week and one day. That means that the first and last day of the year are the same day of the week. So whatever day the year starts on, will have 53 of them and all other days will have 52. If a year starts on a Thursday, then there will be 53 Thursdays in that year. In the case of a leap year. The first and second day of the year will have 53 occurrences. So if a leap year starts on a Wednesday or Thursday there will be 53 Thursdays. If it starts on a Wednesday, there will also be 53 Wednesdays, and if it starts on a Thursday, there will also be 53 Fridays.

Why is there 53 weeks and not 52?

Because 52 weeks equals 52*7 = 364 days and a year is 365 days long (or 366 in a leap year). It therefore spills into week 53.

How do you come up with the sum of 53 Thursdays in the calendar year?

It depends on what day of the week the year starts. For instance 2009 will start on a Thursday. As there are 52 weeks and 1 day in a 365 day year, then there is 53 of the day the year starts on, which will also be the day it ends on. If it is a leap year, there will be 53 Thursdays if the year starts on a Wednesday or a Thursday.

Can there be 53 weeks in a year?

There are 52 weeks and 1 day in a normal year and 52 weeks and 2 days in a leap year, so there is never 53 weeks in a year. However, because there are 52 full weeks and 1 day, that 1 extra day can be in a week 53, but is obviously not a full week. If a leap year starts on a Saturday, then there can be at least one day in each of 54 different weeks, but there are still only 52 full weeks in a year.

How many Sundays are there in leap year?

There are either 52 or 53 Sundays in a leap year, depending on which day of the week it starts. If it starts on a Sunday or on a Saturday, there will be 53 Sundays, otherwise there are 52.

Were there 52 Wednesdays in 2009?

Yes there were 52 Wednesdays in 2009. In a regular year there are about 365 days, so there will be one day of the week that will occur 53 times, two days of the week in a leap year. 365 days in a regular year divided by 7 is 52 with a remainder of one, meaning one of the days of the week has to occur an extra time. Leap year has a remainder of two, so two days will occur 53 times.
