y = mx + b, just subtract mx to both sides

-mx + y = b.

If the slope is a fraction, it is nice to eliminate the denominator first, so go and multiply each term at both sides by the denominator. If both, the slope and the constant, are fractions, multiply each term at both sides by their least common denominator.

To convert slope-intercept form to standard form, subtract mx from both sides of the equation.

-mx + y = b

Example
