You don't convert square feet into cubic feet.

"Square feet" describes area, meaning how much space there is on a piece of paper,

the floor of a room, or the front yard. Other units of area are "square inch" and "acre".

"Cubic feet" describes capacity or volume, meaning how much space there is in a bottle,

a carton, or a balloon. Other units of volume are "cubic centimeter" and "gallon".

If area units could be converted into volume units, then it would be possible to

calculate how many acres of gas you put in your car last month, and how many

gallons of carpet it would take to do your bedroom.

You do not.

A foot is a measure of distance while a square foot is a measure of area. The two measure different things and according to basic dimensional analysis conversion from one to the other is not a valid operation.

Multiply the length times the width and the answer is in square feet. Multiply length times width. Somethings three feet wide and six feet long. 3X6=18 18 square feet.

If you have a square with 400 feet to a side, then the area is 400ft * 400ft, or 160,000 square feet.

A square foot is a unit of area. A cubic metre is a unit of volume. The two units are therefore incompatible.
