Starting at the right hand end, working digit by digit:

The 6 (of 136) cannot be subtracted from the 2 (of 1062), so "borrow" 1 from the 6 (of 1062) making it 5 and add 10 to the 2 to make it 12; now 12 - 6 = 6 (the units of the result)

Now the 3 (of 136) can be subtracted from the 5 (now of 1062 - since 1 has been "borrowed" from the 6 to make it 5) to give 5 - 3 = 2 (the tens of the result).

The 1 (of 136) cannot be subtracted from the 0 (of 1062), so "borrow" 1 from the 1 (of 1062) making it 0 and add 10 to the 0 to make it 10; now 10 - 1 = 9 (the hundreds of the result).

There are now no thousands, so the result of 1062 - 136 is 926:

.0 ......5

.1 10 .6 12

..... 1 .3 ..6

------------

..... 9 .2 ..6

[Please ignore the dots used to line up the digits]
