There are several ways to work out the average of something but the one i use (witch i think is the more common way) is to add all the variables together and divide by the number of variables e.g. 1+2+3+10+18+3+6 = 43 now divide by the number of variables present ( 7 ) and the average is 6.142 (in most cases you won't need to put the average more accurate than three decimal points) hope this helps more than the previous answer
add all the numbers and divide how many numbers there are and the answer is your average
There are three types of average.

I think you are asking, How do you find the average of a set of numbers. If this is correct, then you add all values together, and divide by the number of values in the set to find the average.
lets say you have 10, 7 and 14 10+14=24 24+7=31 so you would divide them by three because you added three numbers so
_10_r_1/3 OR 10 r 1
3)31
Add all the numbers you want to average then divide by how many numbers there are. So if you want to find the average rainfall per month in a year for example, add all the rainfall from each month together and divide by 12 since there is 12 months.
For an unweighted average sum the grades you received for each assignment and divide by the total number of assignments, multiply by 100 to get a percentage.
If you have a weighted average in your class, find the average of each weighted section using the method above. Then multiply each section by its weighted value, i.e if a section counts for 30% of grade multiply by 0.3 (percentage/100), and sum all sections after they have been multiplied by their weight.
For example if tests are worth 50%, lab worth 30%, and homework worth 20%, your weighted average (in decimal form) would be:
weighted average = 0.5*(sum of all test scores)/(number of tests) + 0.3*(sum of all lab scores)/(number of labs) + 0.2*(sum of homework scores)/(number of homework assignments)
for a percentage multiply by 100.
add all the numbers together then divide the total by 7 or the number of numers you've added together
Add all of the numbers together and then divide by the number of numbers you added together.
Example: 5+6+4+5+6+7=33
33 divided by 6= 5.5
Add both numbers, then divide by two.
