Equivalent fractions are simply fractions which are equal to one another. For example, 4/8 and 1/2 are equivalent fractions because they represent the same amount.

To form equivalent fractions, one simply must either multiply or divide both the numerator and denominator of one fraction by the same amount. For example, to form an equivalent fraction of 25/100 we can divide both 25 and 100 by 25:

25 divided by 25 = 1

100 divided by 25 = 4

So an equivalent fraction for 25/100 is 1/4.

Conversely, to form an equivalent fraction for 2/3, multiply both 2 and 3 by the same number (any number will do). We'll use 4:

2 times 4 = 8

3 times 4 = 12

So an equivalent fraction for 2/3 is 8/12.

How do you change a fraction into an equivalent fraction?

For fractions in their simplest form (e.g. 1/2, 2/5), multiply both the numerator and denominator by the same number (except 0) to form equivalent fractions. Example: for 1/2 the first few equivalent fractions are 2/4, 3/6, 4/6, and 5/10. For fractions not in simplest form, you can also divide the numerator and denominator by the same number (except 0), to form an equivalent fraction. Example : 12/16 has equivalent fractions 3/4 and 6/8 as well as 24/32 and 36/48

What are non equivalent fractions?

Non-equivalent fractions are fractions that are not equal

What do you notice about equivalent fractions?

When they are all converted to simplest form, they are all the same.

What are the two equivalent fractions of 86 90?

To find the equivalent fractions, you first need to put the fraction in its simplest form. In this case, 86 and 90 can both divide by 2, so do this and you get 43/45. To find equivalent fractions, you multiply this simplest form fraction by any integer (1, 2, 3, 4...). This gives the equivalent fractions of 86/90 as: 43/45, 129/135, 172/180...
