How do you i delete my answers account?

As sad as we are that you are considering closing your account here on Answers.com, it can be done - just not by yourself. To have your account closed, go to the Contact Us form (see Related Links section below) and make your request. Please include your username in the e-mail. If your account is connected to your Facebook account, let them know that as well.

Although we are unable to delete accounts (due to technical limitations), any contributions that you've previously made will be changed to be an anonymous user name and the information you placed on your profile will be removed.

Won't you consider staying? We'll certainly miss you if you go.

In the upper right hand corner of your front page there is a button labeled "account", click on that button and then click on the settings button. At the bottom of the list there is a line that says "Deactivate my account" click on deactivate.

You would need to contact support using the contact us form and provide the email address that you first joined up to answers.com with. Your username should then be located which may be emailed back to you. If this happens, you might need to use the contact us form again and enclose your username, requesting that your account be closed.

There are varied ways to cancel your answers account. This will depend on where your account is. For Wiki answers for instance, you cannot do it yourself; you would have to ask support to delete your account.

Closing your account
If you truly want to close your account on Answers.com, then please go to the Contact Us page and let Answers Support know.

Be sure to provide them with the link to your Answers profile and provide the email address that you used to register for the account. If you cannot remember this, it is found in your account settings. Let them know if your account is connected to any social networks, like Facebook, Twitter or Google+.


Technical Limitations
Due to technical limitations, we do not delete the account. Instead, we "lock" the account, which consists of changing your username, removing your email and nullifying your password, making it impossible to log in with the account.
The reason we cannot delete accounts is because all the contributions connected to them will be affected all over the site.


Are you sure you want to leave?
You are welcome to keep your account open and just not use it. In case you feel like returning in the future sometime.

• If you are having a problem with another member of the site, you shouldn't have to leave. Get in touch with a Supervisor and we can help.
  
  
• If you have decided to leave because you have received a warning from a Supervisor about a rule violation, again you don't have to leave. You are still welcome here, provided you follow the rules and Terms of Use.

To delete your answers.com account, you need to go to the Contact Us page and send a message requesting deletion. You must enter your username in the e-mail or Facebook account.
