In order to increase value x by n percents you should multiply x by 1+n/100. For example.

Last year the population of city C was 10 Million. This year it has increased by 12 percent.

To find new population, we'll multiply 10,000,000 by 1.12=(1+12/100)

10,000,000x1.12=11,200,000
