Answer: One way is to practice writing out the times tables until they are committed to your memory. Ideally you should be able to memorise all the times tables facts up to 12 x 12.

If writing out the times tables is too much of a bore, there are many games available on the internet to help make learning them more enjoyable.

Answer: The following helps for all sorts of things you must memorize - multiplication tables, foreign words, etc. Use some pieces of cardboard, for example, 3x5 inches. Write the question on one side, and the answer on the other. Shuffle them, then look at the question and try to answer. Check the answer on the other side. Separate those that you answer correctly (or, in the case of the multiplication tables, that you can answer immediately, without having to calculate - in other words, those that you know by heart). Continue practicing with those that cause you trouble.

you can take many approaches to this:

one, you can let the school handle all of it

two, if your child is being taught at home then you can get any multiplication chart from a school supplies store, or where ever you get your home schooling items.

three, have them memorize the times table by:

A: teach them what multiplication is then take it step by step and start with the ones tables, two tables, and so on. (recommended)

B: hand them a chart with the multiplication tables and have them memorize a part of it over the time of a few days or a week (depends on how well your child can memorize). then when they are done, or as they go along and start to understand the times table explain to them the concept of multiplication and how its used.

C: tell them they will learn the times tables and have them count by 1s 2s 3s 4s and so on. (ex. 2,4,6,8, or 3,6,9,12,15) then help them understand multiplication and how to use it. this method can easily made more fun and enjoyable for your child by whatever methods you think may work for your child.

try these steps from (A) and keep on going lower if your still does not understand the times tables. if you run out of options, come back on this question and add on to the question stating your problem and situation, i will be happy to respond and will usually respond within a day since i check my email for responses almost everyday.
