The 'Old Childrens Gam' plan.
Have drawing board.
In it place two pins.
Make a loop of string, and place it over the pins. The loop should be slack/loose.
With a pencil , put it inside the string loop , and pull the loop tight.
Keeping the loop tight, move/draw the pencil as a third point inside the tight loop.
If done correctly, you will have a nice smooth ellipse.
To have an elipse of a certain size. Measure the distance between the pins. Then with the looped string, place it over the two pins . Pull it taught against one pin, and in a straight line through other pin, to limit of half the major axis. Then drawe as before.
Hope that helps!!!!!
NB This is child's/boy scout's stuff.
