Accounting deals with a ton of numbers, but you don't do anything crazy with those numbers. You need to be able to understand them and do some basic calculations with them such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, and percentages. You also need to do some problem solving as Accountants face a lot of problems with the numbers on paper.
Accounting and math do go hand in hand, but not to the extent people think that they do.

And almost all types of mathematics is used in accounting, from addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentages, means, etc. It it didn't use math, companies could not keep track of what they are owed, what they owe, their overhead expenses, salaries, insurances, etc.
