The way to calculate the number of bricks is to calculate the area of the walk and then divide by the area of a single brick. One very important point - the same units must be used for both areas (whether you choose inches, feet or anything else, it doesn't matter, you will get the same answer).

The area of the walk is 6x24 square feet and, as there are 12 inches in a foot, this equals (6x12)x(24x12) square inches. This equals 20736 square inches.

The area of a brick is 4x8 = 32 square inches.

Dividing one by the other, the number of bricks required, N, is given by:

N =20736/32

= 648 bricks exactly.

work out the square footage of your wall ----eg 4ftX8ft = 32 square feet ----- there are 32 bricks of your size to every square yard ---there are 9 square feet in one square yard --so divide the total square feet of wall by 9 ----= 32divided by 9 = 4 square yards so if 1 square yard = 32 bricks you will need 32 x 4 = 128 bricks add a few for breakages in your case its 24x6 = 144 sq feet now divide by 9 = 16 sq yards so 32 bricks for every square yard is 16 x 32 =512 bricks ----so order say 530 in case you break some ----good luck

Answer: If you're building a walk and not a wall, then it will take 648 bricks to build a 6 x 24 walkway with no gap between the bricks.

Area of walk = 6 ft x 24 ft = 144 sq ft.

Area of brick = 1/3 ft x 2/3 ft = 2/9 sq ft.

So number of bricks required = 144 / (2/9) = 144*9/2 = 72*9 = 648 bricks
