I would recommend getting two acres for a horse. It has been said that a horse needs at least an acre but two acres is great. If you are getting more than one horse:
1 horse - 1-2 acres
2 horses - 4-5 acres
3 horses - 7-8 acres and so on.
Hope this helps!
