Ok. So the formula would be pi are squared times stroke times number of cylinders.

The 396 bore was 4.096 inches, plus .060 inches would be 4.156 inches diameter.

Radius would be 2.078 inches (one half the diameter). Radius squared would be 4.318 inches (radius times radius).

Times pi (3.14159), that's 13.56 square inches.

Times the stroke (3.76 inches) that's 51 cubic inches. Times 8 cylinders, that's 408.05 cubic inches.

It would be, as my song goes, " She's real great my 408 "😆😅😂😬😬😬❗ He said as he LAUGHED OUT LOUD !!!,but it would be a408 cu.in." moror. You could, when you are doing the heads, aggressively sand and refinish the compression domes and gain the extra cubic inch, maybe 2 " for a " just won again with my hot 410 " . Again, not as catchy as the truly great song from my youth,( 60 long years ago🤗🤗🤗👀👀 )Titled ,"She's real fine my 409" yea, " Nothing can catch her, nothing can touch my 409 ". What a GREAT song . I bought a Olds 442 off the showroom floor, black on black, for $5,399.00 in 1966 and traded it in for a 1970 Buick 455 stage 1 !!! Man , 🤗🤗🤗those were, and still are, fantastically Fast Cars, ahhh . . .!
