If you define "sugar cube" as a six sided solid of glucose, you could substitute any one or more of several billion atoms for its isotope, and change it into a different sugar cube. If you allow chemical reactions, as in "how many ways can the contents of a sugar cube be used to make another substance?", then again, there are an infinite number if potential transformations. If you were to hurl a particular sugar cube into the ocean or the sun, in a thousand years, atoms from that cube would be found in several billion organisms.
