A cubic yard is 3 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet = 27 cubic feet.

The area you are dealing with is 30 x 1 x 1 = 30 cubic feet

So you will need 30/27 cubic yards, which equals 11/9 cubic yards or 1.11 cubic yards.

4 inches = 1/3 foot

1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet

Volume to fill = (30 x 30 x 1/3) = 300 cubic feet = (300 / 27) = 11 and 1/9th cubic yards

You must mean square yards, which is area. Cubic yards are volume.

You have a 10x30feet area, and 10x30=300 so you have 300 square feet.

There are 3 feet in a yard, so there are 3x3feet in a square yard, so 9 square feet in a square yard.

300 square feet * (1 yard / 9 square feet) = 33 1/3 square yards.

Now if you really wanted cubic yards, you might measure the depth of water when your lawn floods, convert it to yards, then multiply by 33 1/3 and that's how much water you've got, expressed in cubic yards.

1 yard = 3 feet 1 cubic yard = (3 x 3 x 3) = 27 cubic feet 25 ft x 5 ft x 3 inches = (25 x 5 x 1/4) = 31.25 cubic feet = (31.25 / 27) = 1.157 cubic yard (rounded)

270. There are 3 feet in a yard, and when you square both, the conversion factor is also squared.

27 cubic feet = 1 cubic yard

3 inches = 1/4 foot

Volume = (200 x 18 x 1/4) = 900 cubic feet = 331/3cubic yards

How large of an area is 75 cubic yards?

Based on the category I am assuming we are takling dirt or mulch. 75 yds x 27 cuft (there is 27 cuft per 1 cuyd) = 2,025 cubic feet of material - 1 foot thick would be 2,025 sqft. - 6 inches thick would be 4,050 sqft. - 3 inches thick would be 8,100 sqft.

How many cubic yards of gravel to cover 12'by 15' area?

62/3 cubic yards for every 1-foot deep. 5 cubic yards for every 9-inches deep. 31/3 cubic yards for every 6-inches deep. 5/9 cubic yard for every 1-inch deep.

How many yards of fill dirt in area 25x40x4 inches thick?

You find the square footage of the total area....40 X 60=2400 square feet. Then convert that to cubic yards by dividing by 27....(27 cubic feet per cubic yard) 2400 divided by 27= 85.1 cu. yards To raise the area by one foot, this would be the end of the calculation. If you were to only want to raise an area by 4 inches lets say....then you would multiply 85.1 by .33 or one third of a foot. (for 6 inches you would multiply by .50 or 1/2 foot) NOW, you have to take into account compaction or loss. When figuring concrete, allow up to 10%. When figuring dirt (depending on how sandy etc.) rule of thumb is to allow UP TO 1/3 for compaction. In your question above, allow for 1/3 and you would need another 28 yards (cu. yards). This would figure as 85.1 X.33 and would equal roughly another 28 yards. So, the total needed would be 85 cu. yds (85 rounded) PLUS 28 .....or a total of 113 cu. yards.

After finding th square feet of an area what number would you use to convert the measurment to cubic yards?

A measurement in square feet is a measurement of area, while a measurement in cubic yards is a measurement of volume. The two units are, therefore, incompatible. You can, however, convert between square feet and square yards, or cubic feet and cubic yards.

If you figured an area is 600 cubic yards how many yards of dirt do you need to fill that area?

It will take 800 cubic yards 1/3 compaction.

How many yards of concrete would it take to cover a 20' x 34' area 4 inches thick?

An area 20ft x 34' is 680 square feet. 4 inches is 1/3 of a foot so cubic feet required is 680 x 1/3 = 226.7 cubic feet. There are 3x3x3 = 27 cubic ft in a cubic yard. Therefore cubic yards required = 226.7/27 = 8.4 cubic yards

How many square yards of gravel are in an area 5 yards wide by 28 yards long by 2 inches deep?

If you say 2 inches deep, I assume you really mean cubic yards, as in how much you would have to buy? If so, the answer is 7.77, so you would need about 8 yards.

How many cubic yards are in 450 sq ft?

Apples and oranges. Without knowing how thick the 450 sq. ft. area is or how thick you want it to be you can't convert to cubic yards. A cubic yard has 27 cubic feet. One square foot 3 inches thick would be 1/4 cubic feet. 4 sq. ft. 3 inches thick would be 1 cubic foot. 450 sq. ft. 3 inches thick is 112 1/2 cubic feet or just a bit over 4 cubic yards. 450 sq. ft. 4 inches thick is 150 cubic feet or 5 1/2 cubic yards.
