Remember the Imperial Table for distance.

12 inches(ins) = 1 foot (ft)

3 ft = 1 yard(yd)

22 yds = 1 chain(ch)

10 ch = 1 furlong (fl)

8 fl = 1 mile.

To find the feet in one mile multiply together the units from feet to miles. Hence 3 x 22 x 10 x 8 = 66 x 80 = 5280 ft in one mile.
