As an acre is a measure of area, it can be any shape, but if it is a rectangle its width and length can be any size as long as width x length = 4840yds2 = 43560 ft2, eg 1/2 ft wide by 87120 ft long, 1 ft wide by 43560 ft long, 2 ft wide by 21780 ft long, etc.

An Acre was originally the amount of land an ox could plough in one day and was 1 chain wide by 10 chains long, or 22yds x 220yds or 66ft x 660ft.
