The word 'pence' is the plural of 'penny'.

If you have one penny, and I give you another one, then you will have two pence.

You cannot have one pence - just as there cannot be 'one men' or 'one cars'.

One Cent (Not very much) But you know what they say, every penny counts!

A more serious explanationIf you mean a BRITISH ONE PENNY coin, its value depends on when it was minted. Anything dated 1971 or later is only worth face value. If it's older, please post a new question.

Currently, one pence is worth 1/100 of a British pound. Through the 1960s, under the old coinage system, one pence (penny) was 1/240 of a pound.
