there are a thousand millimeters in a meter

An easier way to do this would be to break it down first.

we know that there are 100 centimeters in a meter.

we also know that there are 10 millimeters in a centimeter.

so 10(millimeters in a centimeter) x(times) 100(centimeters in a meter)

...10x100=1000

one thousand millimeters in a meter

:(. That is NOT the easier way! Learn what the prefixes mean, instead.

The prefix tells you the multiplier, so 'milli' means one-thousandth therefore to turn metres to millimetres multiply them by 1000.

You do NOT break a simple, linear conversion into intermediate steps because that makes additional, extra work and increases the risk of error. You may need to use intermediate steps for more unwieldy calculations involving mixed dimensions, but for straight linear conversions just use the prefix-value directly.

Take the decimal point and move it three places to the left. This should make your number bigger.For example: 32.4 meters would be 32,400 millimeters when you convert it.Here's another one;There are 1,000 millimeters in a meter, is like if you would ask, how many ones are there in a thousand, so there are one thousand ones in a thousadn, so the anwer to your question would be, there are one thousand millimeters in a meter.Millimeters Meter1,000 = 1

How many kilometers in 1 millimeter?

By calculations we know that 1 centimeter is the product of 10 millimeters, 1 meter is the product of 100 centimeters , and 1 kilometer is the product of 1000 meters.so there is 1x10x100x1000 (1,000,000) millimeters in 1 kilometer. so we take 1/1,000,000 and that is equal to 0.000001 or 1 millionth of a kilometer,

What is a better way to measure a gym a meter stick or 50 meter tape?

The 50 meter tape would be better as the margin of error would be smaller. example: if each measurement you take is off by 4 millionths of a meter by using the meter stick to measure a 100 meter length your measurement will be off by as much as 4 ten-thousanths of a meter or 0.40 millimeters whereas the 50 meter tape measurements will be off only 8 millionths of a meter or 0.008 millimeters.
