When you say "a 20 inch circle", I'm going to assume you mean the distance

all the way across it, through the center ... that is, the circle's "diameter".

The area of a circle is (pi) x (Radius)2 = (pi) x (100) = 314.159 square inches (rounded)

Area of a circle = πr²

A = 3.14159 × (4.5)² (remember that r or radius is exactly half of the diameter)

A = 3.14159 × 20.25

A = 63.62 in²
