There are 4 different suits, 13 of each.

Each card is a unique combination of face value and suit.

Also, there are face cards (jack, queen, king, and sometimes ace), and number cards, and sometimes aces are considered by themselves.

In a typical deck of cards you have Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 in each of 4 suits (spades, diamonds, clubs, and hearts). There are also two Jokers in each deck.
