hmmm... i don't know :O

I Know the answer . . .

One second of latitude equals 100.39 feet . . .

here is the proof:

one degree = 60 Nautical Miles or 69 Statute miles; (conversion factor 69/60 = 1.15)

one minute minute = 1 Nautical Mile

one second = 1 Nautical Mile / by 60 seconds = 0.01666 of a Nautical Mile

use conversion factor of 1.15 x 0.01666 = 0.019159 x a Statute Mile -->

equals (5420 ft X 0.019159) = 100.39 feet per second of latitude

very simple math . . .

Why is the distance on a map showing 1 degree of longitude smaller than 1 degree of latitude yet both represent the same angle?

The lines of latitude represent degrees of arc being 111 kilometers per degree on the Earths surface. (111111.111 meters). That is how the meter was defined. Lines of longutude have this size on the equator but the lines converge at the poles where the distance between them becomes zero. So on maps, you will see that the distance of lines of latitude are always the same but those of longitude are smaller as distance increases away fro the equator.

What is mars gravity force earths gravity equals 1?

No, Its gravity is much lower due to a lower overall mass of the planet. Mars' gravity is about 37.6% of the Earths.

What is one degree of latitude equal to in nautical miles?

The lines of longitude radiate out from the poles. At their point of origin, i.e. at 90o latitude, there is no distance at all between the lines! However, at latitude 89o, very near the poles, the distance between the respective 'one degree' lines of longitude is about one nautical mile. At latitude 48.37o the distance along the line of latitude is 40 nautical miles And a 1o longitude difference along the equator (0o latitude) represents a distance of about 60.1 nautical miles. What is distance measured in degrees east or west of the prime meridian?

The Prime Meridian is defined as zero degrees of longitude. The distance in miles between degrees of longitude depends on the latitude; one degree of longitude equals the cosine of the latitude * 60 nautical miles. Note: If you're using Excel or some other spreadsheet program, be sure to convert degrees into radians before calculating the cosine of the latitude.

What is the formula for finding time if you have speed and distance values?

Speed equals distance divided by time. By rearranging that formula, we get time equals distance divided by speed.
