Urination serves two functions. One is to rid the body of certain unneeded minerals, and the other is to regulate the amount of water in the blood. On a hot day, water will be lost through sweat, and so the body will want to keep as much water as possible, so there will be less urine produced. On a cold day, the body will have plenty of water, so more urine will be produced to balance this out.
