Well I'm not a dentist, but my aunt is going to college for it. I am pretty sure that dentists' DO NOT use math. I think they use numbering for the position of a tooth. I am positive that they use hours for the position that the sit on the chair. For example, if you want to sit on the chair behind your patient's head while they are lying vertical, you have to go to 12:00 (12 o' clock) position.
