I would say yes because I used to be way overweight and it it was harder to breath then. When I started losing weight, it became easier to breath.

For starters, let's just keep in mind that any type of breathing is better than no breathing at all (often times when I works with students they have a habit of holding their breath) I would say that to take as normal a breath as you might take just walking down the street is optimal.
