Converting the equation to Slope Intercept form y=-2x-7, the slope is the number that is multiplied to x, WHEN the equation is in Slope Intercept form.

The slope is -2. The y intercept is 7.

(you would have gotten these same answers without converting to Slope Intercept form, but that is not usually the case. You have to convert to Slope Intercept form.)

When a line has the form y = mx + c, m is the slope (gradient) of the line and c is the intercept with the y-axis.

Rearranging -2x - y = 7 into this form yields:

y = -2x - 7

So the slope is -2.
