O.4 is greater than 0.05 and here's why:

Always move your decimal 2 places to the right. So if you move the decimal 2 places to the right of 0.4 it will look like this = 40.

You add a zero for the missing place. So that means 0.05 = 5.

Anything before the decimal will be as a whole number so that would mean 40 is greater that 5.

No, if you multiply .05 by 8 you will get .4 so 0.4 is 8 times bigger than 0.05
