Nobody has ever come up with any good reason why 666 is a bad number, or 555, or 777, or, for that matter, 123.
People will seek out superstition because it's easier for some to believe a symbol is responsible for good or bad things than to look life in the face and decide it's up to us to be the best we can be.
If we can blame some mythical beast, or a number, or cutting flowers at the wrong time of day, some of us will do that.
The rest of us just get on with real life.
