No. The percentiles start at the lowest value. When the 1000 values are ordered, from smallest to largest, the 29th percentile will be the 290th value while the 30th percentile will be the 300th value.

How do you find decile on Excel?

You can use the percentile function with values that are multiples of .10 in the function. Say your values were in the cells A2 to A50, you could use these functions for some of the different deciles: =PERCENTILE(A2:A50,0.1) =PERCENTILE(A2:A50,0.2) =PERCENTILE(A2:A50,0.3) =PERCENTILE(A2:A50,0.4)

How do you use Excel to calulate the 75th percentile?

You use the Percentile function. You specify the range of values and then the percentile in a decimal form. Say your values were in the cell range from B2 to D50, then the formula would be:=PERCENTILE(B2:D50,0.75)You use the Percentile function. Is the range zero in a data set consisting of 1000 values that are all different?

No. The range is the maximum value less the minimum value. If all the values are different, the maximum must be different from the minimum. Consequently, the max minus min must be greater than zero.
