Saxon Math Course 3 will take students all the way through sine, cosine, and tangent, factoring polynomials, and rationalizing a denominator (to name a few) which have traditionally been taught as part of Algebra I. My students tend to test into Algebra 2 when they go on to high school.

The curriculum is rigorous, and since I teach in a small middle school, I have chosen to teach Course 3 over two years - completing the first half in seventh grade, and the second half in eighth grade.

Is Pre Algebra the same as Algebra 1?

No. Pre-Algebra is taught to provide the ability to do certain mathematical equations before doing the more challenging math of Algebra I.

What algebra is more advanced algebra 1 or algebra 1a?

They are the same thing but when you go into Algebra 1a, its like part one, and there is a part b, and just algebra 1 is the same thing, but not in two parts. Some schools offer a two-year course that covers algebra 1 in two years. in this case, algebra 1a is less advanced than algebra 1, since the pace is only half as fast.

Is algebra and algebra 1 the same?

What is the difference between Math and Algebra?

Math is when just numbers are used in an equation, and you solve for the answer (In regular math you can ALWAYS get an answer because there will be no variables) Ex. 4+4x3-2 = 14 (Remember BEDMASS) Algebra is the same concept as math, but variable, usually "x", are used in place of numbers. In basic equation (like the one in the example) you will actually be able to solve the equation by first solving for x, then plugging the value back into the original equation in its place. Ex. 4x-2 - 4x = 2, x= 2/4, x= 1/2 (or 0.5) 4(0.5) - 2 = 2 -2 = 0 If you don't understand how I did that, you will need to message me for a further explanation, but if you aren't in grade 7 or 8 yet you need not worry because it is taught in those grades :) +++_+ The answer is far simpler and direct than that! There is no "difference": algebra is the set of symbols and rules by which all mathematical concepts and problems are described and solved. You cannot separate algebra from maths, or compare them, so don't try! Oh, and "you ALWAYS get an answer" even in Pure Algebra - the study of algebra's own rules and behaviour. Solving (3x-x)(2x-x) gives you its own answer, just as much as "4+4x3-2" gives you its answer.

How is math related to math?

Math is related to math because math(1) is technically math(2) itself, because there is really no description how math(1) is the same as math(2). There is only one math, except for types of math, like algebra.

Is Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 the same?

No, prealgebra is math to get you read to algebra. It deals with easier content. Mostly fractions, division multiplication, denominator, and ratios. Algebra deals with variables and equations. Much harder.

Is algebra foundations 2 and algebra 1B the same thing?

Depends. Most of us would not know what "Algebra Foundations 2" or "Algebra 1B" are, since the name of such a course is probably determined by the school or local district. Compare the curricula of both courses to see if they are the same.
