Saxon Math Course 3 will take students all the way through sine, cosine, and tangent, factoring polynomials, and rationalizing a denominator (to name a few) which have traditionally been taught as part of Algebra I. My students tend to test into Algebra 2 when they go on to high school.
The curriculum is rigorous, and since I teach in a small middle school, I have chosen to teach Course 3 over two years - completing the first half in seventh grade, and the second half in eighth grade.

No. Pre-Algebra is taught to provide the ability to do certain mathematical equations before doing the more challenging math of Algebra I.

They are the same thing but when you go into Algebra 1a, its like part one, and there is a part b, and just algebra 1 is the same thing, but not in two parts. Some schools offer a two-year course that covers algebra 1 in two years. in this case, algebra 1a is less advanced than algebra 1, since the pace is only half as fast.

You cannot separate algebra from maths, or compare them, so don't try! Oh, and "you ALWAYS get an answer" even in Pure Algebra - the study of algebra's own rules and behaviour. Solving (3x-x)(2x-x) gives you its own answer, just as much as "4+4x3-2" gives you its answer.
