Why even divided by odd equal even?

Odd numbers do NOT have a factor of 2. When an Even number is divided by an Odd number with no remainder, the prime factors of the divisor cancel out the prime factors of the dividend, but there will be no prime 2 to cancel the prime factor of 2 in the dividend leaving the the quotient to have a factor of 2, and so will be Even. --------------------------------------------------------- Alternatively, consider what happens when you multiply Odd and Even numbers: Odd × Odd = Odd Odd × Even = Even Even × Even = Even The result is Even ONLY if at least one of the numbers multiplied together is Even. Thus if you divide an Even number by an Odd number, the result must be Even. Also consider that Odd times Odd is Odd. Multiplication is the inverse of division, so if you have: dividend ÷ divisor = quotient then dividend = quotient × divisor Now, if the divisor is Odd and the quotient is Odd, the the Dividend MUST be Odd (since Odd × Odd = Odd). Thus if the Dividend is Even and the Divisor is Odd, then the Quotient must be Even.

Would the quotient of two evenly divisible odd numbers always be even?

No. It would always be odd.If an odd number is multiplied an even amount of times (as would result if this statement were true) the result would have to be even and this contradicts us having two evenly divisible odd numbers (one would be even).A couple of examples:21/7 = 3 (quotient is odd)63/9 = 7 (quotient is odd)And so it would be for all examples.(If the quotient were even and we multiplied it by an odd number we could not reach an odd number and so this is self contradictory.)

Is the quotient of two evenly divisible odd numbers always even?

No.

Is 1492 odd or even how can you tell?

It is divisible by 2 such that the quotient is a whole number.

Is 583 remainder 4 an odd or even number?

The answer is actually indeterminate since we are not sure about the divisor of the quotient, and we are also not given the quotient of two integers! If we are, then we are able to figure out the answer. Otherwise, if you are referring to "583 + 4", then we have 587, which is odd.

if the dividend and the quotient are both odd numbers how often must the divisor be odd?

Always.

If you add 3 to an even number the sum would be odd or even?

Odd. Even + Even = Even Odd + Odd = Even Odd + Even = Even + Odd = Odd

What numbers are divisible by 6 and quotient is an odd number?

18

Is 75 an even number?

75 ends (least significant digit) in 5 which is an odd number, hence the entire number 75 is odd. Also if you divide 75 by 2 you get a quotient of 37 and a remainder of 1. When a number is divided by 2 and you do not get a remainder of 0, the number is odd, otherwise it is even.

Is 6 an even or odd number?

6 is an even number. A even number is a number which is divisible by 2 and the resulting quotient is a whole number (not a fraction). 6 is divisible by 2, making it an even number.

Does multiplying an odd number by an even number give an even answer?

odd * odd = odd answer even * even = even answer odd * even = even answer

Is even times even odd?

even times even = even odd times even = even odd times odd = odd
