A micrometer is more accurate but it is only suitable for very small objects. For example, you could not measure the length of a credit card to any degree of accuracy using a standard micrometer.

Takes some skill to use a vernier! So can't say, will depend on your skill level! By micrometer caliper You meen dial type caliper! A micrometer and a caliper are apples and Oranges

Advantages of vernier caliper?

A Vernier caliper is quite accurate and idiot proof. Part of its accuracy lies in its general ease of use.

What is the zero reading of a vernier caliper?

on the very top of the burette. Should start from zero to 100mL on the burette

Where on the vernier scale would you read to obtain the vernier scale reading?

where on the vernier caliper would you read to obtain the vernier scale reading

If a vernier caliper has zero reading of 0.025 cm and the caliper reads 5.565 cm what should be the correct reading?

If a vernier caliper has zero reading of 0.025 cm and the caliper reads 5.565 cm what should be the correct reading? 5.565 - 0.025 = 5.54 so caliper reads 5.54 cm If the zero reading on the vernier calipers is -0.025 cm with the reading still 5.565cm, it is 5.565 - (-0.025) = 5.565 + 0.025 = 5.59 cm

Does the level of accuracy obtained from using a vernier caliper different from other measuring tool?

It is less than a micrometer but greater than a non vernier caliper or ruler.

What is the unit of vernier scale reading of vernier caliper?

No unit for vernier scale coincidence. But as we multiply it by least count which has unit then we get vernier scale reading with the same unit. Of course main scale reading and vernier scale reading would have the same unit

How reading differ if screw gauge is used instead of vernier calliper to measure thickness of glass plate?

Vernier caliper has an accuracy of 0.01 cm. But screw gauge has still more. It will be able to give even 0.001 cm. So even third decimal could be got accurately when we use screw gauge instead vernier caliper.

Where on the vernier caliper would you read to obtain the vernier scale reading?

Find the marks that line up exactly (or as exactly as possible and then interpolate). see the Sources and related links below for a page and a video explaining in detail.

Why is a vernier caliper used to measure length?

Vernier calipers are used to measure length when quite accurate measurement is required, but not such accuracy as to require a micrometer.

What do you measure with a vernier caliper?

You can measure distances of around 10-12 centimetres to an accuracy of 0.1 millimetres.

What is the function of the caliper?

The vernier calipers is used to measure length of small objects to an accuracy of 0.01 centimeters.
