Yes, the Distributive Property is true over addition and multiplication, and it will continue to until you start studying exotic concepts such as Ring Theory or Field Theory.

When solving equations how do you justify your steps?

You should state the property used, such as distributive property of multiplication over addition or addition property of equality, etc.

How could distributive property be used to multiply 43.2?

Whether or not the distributive property can or should be used depends on what you wish to multiply 43.2 by. For example, if you wish to multiply 43.2 by 10, the distributive property is irrelevant!

Who invented distributive property?

the distributive property is what you should ask someone that knows

What must be done to a mixed number before it can be added subtracted multiplied or divided?

For addition and subtraction, nothing. For multiplication, nothing provided you are able to use the distributive property efficiently. For division the mixed fraction should be converted to a top-heavy fraction. Although this can help with the other operations, it is not a "must".

What is the distributive property of 10 x 46?

10*46 = 10*(40+6) = 10*40 + 10*6 (using the distributive property) = 400 + 60 = 460 Except that to multiply by 10 you should not need the ditributive property!

Do you feel that students should be proficient in addition before learning multiplication?

Yes.

Is there distributive for division over addition?

For example, (10 + 2) / 2 = (10 / 2) + (2 / 2). This works if the added terms are on the left side of the division side (or the numerator of a fraction). Consider the distribution of multiplication over addition to be the fundamental rule; if you convert the division above to a multiplication, and later you convert the multiplication back to a division, it should be clear why the distributive property works in this case: (10 + 2) / 2 = (10 + 2) x (1/2) = (10 x 1/2) + (2 x 1/2) = (10 / 2) + (2 / 2) Please note that it does NOT work the other way round, that is, if the added terms are on the right of the division sign (denominator of a fraction).

Between multiplication and addition to whom you will give more preference?

I don't know if it should be called "preference", but if an expression has both multiplication and addition in it, then the multiplication has to be done first. This is only because you'll get the wrong answer the other way, not because there's anything preferable about multiplication.

What is operation order?

Depending on where you study, it isBIDMAS = Bracket, Index, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction.orPEMDAS = Parentheses, Exponent, Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction.Actually, these should be BI(DM)(AS) and PE(MD)(AS) since D and M are treated as equals and evaluated left to right, as are A and S.Depending on where you study, it isBIDMAS = Bracket, Index, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction.orPEMDAS = Parentheses, Exponent, Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction.Actually, these should be BI(DM)(AS) and PE(MD)(AS) since D and M are treated as equals and evaluated left to right, as are A and S.Depending on where you study, it isBIDMAS = Bracket, Index, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction.orPEMDAS = Parentheses, Exponent, Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction.Actually, these should be BI(DM)(AS) and PE(MD)(AS) since D and M are treated as equals and evaluated left to right, as are A and S.Depending on where you study, it isBIDMAS = Bracket, Index, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction.orPEMDAS = Parentheses, Exponent, Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction.Actually, these should be BI(DM)(AS) and PE(MD)(AS) since D and M are treated as equals and evaluated left to right, as are A and S.

What is the distributive property in multiplication?

when you do distributive property you share whatever is outside the parentheses with what is inside. I'll give you an example: 4(7-6) step1:multiply 4 by 7-4 times 6 (you are sharing the number outside parenthese,4, with the number inside the parentheses,7 and 6. remember to bring down the symbol which is minus. step2: you should get 4*7-4*6. this is you answer. you can check this by... writing the oringinal problem and then write the answer. do order of operations and you should get the same answer on both sides. 4(7-6)=4*7-4*6 4 (1) =28- 24 4= 4 THAT IS CORRECT! you have just completed the distributive property.

What is the definition for the associative property?

The Associative Property is when you switch the parenthesis and your results should be the same results (if you didn't you did something wrong). The Associative Property only works for Addition and Multiplication ........NOT DIVISION OR SUBTRACTION!!! Ex: 7+(10+13) 7+23 30 (7+10)+13 17+13 30

Why is the commutative property of multiplication sometimes called the order property?

The commutative property states that a x b = b x a that is, the order does not matter. In some respects, perhaps it should be called the non-order property.

When should you use PIMDAS in math?

It is the order of operations involving a mathematical problem which includes brackets, indices, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.

How do you multiply polynomials using distributive property of multiplication?

The Distributive Property helps with mental math and should be taught to children as a method to multiply much quicker in their heads. The method is FOIL for First Outside Inside Last (x3+x2)(x+1) <--- think of the (x+1) as a separate term and distribute x3(x+1) + x2(x+1) <---intermediate step not usually written x3(x) + x3(1) + x2(x) + x2(1) <---multiply and collect like terms F O I L x4 + 2x3 + x2

Should you perform operations in parentheses first?

Yes - the parts in brackets should be done first. Use BEDMAS as a guide. Brackets - Exponents (eg. x2) - Division - Multiplication - Addition - Subtraction. Although if it is just addition and subtraction you should work from left to right.

Yes, it should be non-zero; if you multiply both sides by zero you wipe out the equation.

What is PEMDASin math.?

I don't know what the E stands for, but I know what it means. P- Parenthases E - powers of M - Multiplication D - Devision A - Addition and S - subtraction. Although, I think you have the M and the D the wrong way around. It should be PEDMAS. It is the order in which you should do a sum. E.g.4 + 4 x 4 = 20, not 32 as you should do the multiplication first, not the addition even though it comes before the multiplication in the sum. PEDMAS is a mnemonic to help you remember the order of the different functions you can use. Hope that helps.
