A ratio is normally expressed as two numbers separated by a colon, 5:4, 8:13....and so on. These ratios are in their simplest form as they numbers have no common factors.
A ratio such as 6 : 8 can be simplified to give 3 : 4 as both numbers are divisible by 2.
The rules when converting a ratio to a fraction are :-
1) The number of the left-hand side of the ratio becomes the numerator of the fraction.
2) The two quantities must be stated in the same units.
3) The fraction should be written in its lowest terms.
EXAMPLE, 40 : 216 expressed as a fraction = 40/216 = 5/27.
35 out of 100 as a ratio as a fraction in simplest form is 7/20.
37/6 is in its simplest form.
The ratio is 5/6 in its simplest form
a ratio is also called a fraction and vice versa. therefore whatever ratio you have it's also a fraction.

a ratio is also called a fraction and vice versa. therefore whatever ratio you have it's also a fraction.
0.875 is itself a fraction. It is a fraction in decimal form rather than in the form of a ratio. However, that does not stop it being a fraction in its simplest form. Its equivalent, in simplest rational form, is 7/8.
