0.10x + 0.25(35-x) = 5.75

0.10x + 8.75 - 0.25x = 5.75

-0.15x = 5.75-8.75

-0.15x = -3

x = -3/-0.15 = 20

Now substitute value for x into 1st equation to find # of quarters (y):

20 + y = 35

y = 35 - 20 = 15
